Well, Halloween is finished and my friend MJ and I had a nice time. I leave for Thailand on the 26th (Dad's Birthday). We read tarot, I-Ching, and her oracle cards. They were, I feel, highly accurate and positive. I also made a nice altar to the ancestors who've passed. I used to think it was evil or nonsense, but I can honestly say that I felt a certain something this year, as if it were a proper holiday. I'll definitely do it again next year. This was a Christian altar, with saints, and angels. There is a lot of writing out there on spirituality and creativity.
I've been writing a bit on the editing of the novel and it was a drizzly day in Long Beach, so I didn't go to the beach as I planned to do. The editor told me to be a good writer, all you need to do is write a lot and read a lot. I agree. And he was very adamant that novels should only have the POV of two or three characters max otherwise the audience gets confused.
We had baked brie, Texas-style chili, hummus, cheese dip and a vegan veggie dip so we had plenty to eat. I'll need to start a diet tomorrow. I think cooking is one of the most creative acts one can do. Maya Angelou would cook when she got writers block.
